Accessing eResources
Within the University network (cam.ac.uk domain) access to e-resources generally does not require a password, although you will be asked for your Raven password when accessing certain e-resources, including Web of Knowledge.
Some PCs have a private IP address, despite being in a University department or college. Go to the eresources@cambridge homepage to see if your machine is on campus.
If your machine is off-campus, you can access the vast majority of e-resources with your Raven user-id and password. Downland Lean Library will provide "1 click" access to your e-resources, wherever you are.
If you are trying to access a subscribed resource outside the University network and reach a log in page, choose home institution/institutional log in (Shibboleth) (the precise wording varies with publisher) and select 'University of Cambridge' from the list. You will then be prompted for your Raven password. If you use Lean Library on your browser, these steps will be automatic.
Remote access to e-resources available exclusively within the University network can be achieved by setting up a Virtual Private Dial-up Network (VPDN). The University Computing Service provides information on how to set up a VPDN.
If you are unable to access an e-journal to which the University has a subscription, please report the problem via the eresources@cambridge problem report form.
