  • Networking Opportunities: Presenting your research enhances visibility of the vital work conducted within the School of Biological Sciences (SBS) and highlights your own scholarly contributions.
  • Skill Development: Gain presentation experience through talks or posters, honing transferable skills like public speaking.
  • Research Visibility: Your research gains visibility, drawing attention to your valuable contributions to scholarship.
  • Research Feedback: Engagement with peers and scholars offers critical insights that facilitate the identification of research gaps, the exploration of emerging opportunities, and the development of novel perspectives.

How to participate

Abstract Submissions

Abstract submissions are invited from all SBS Postgraduate students and researchers. To participate, please submit a brief abstract outlining your research idea, project, or area of interest. Relevant areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Open science and reproducibility
  • Sustainability and conservation
  • Innovations and applications in health and disease
  • Translating research into the clinic or industry
  • Science communication and public engagement
  • Science education
  • Misinformation in science

Participants may then select one or both of the following presentation formats

  • Lightning Talk (6 minutes)A concise, engaging summary of your research, aimed at a broad audience.
  • A1 Poster Presentation: A visual overview of your work that encourages informal discussion throughout the event.

Come and share the 'why' and 'what' behind your research—your passion for addressing real-world challenges and the innovative impact you aim to achieve. There will be a £50 voucher prize for the best speaker and best poster on the day.
